Family owned and operated since the winery opened in 1982, proprietors Bob and Patty are blessed with a dedicated family of staff that are equally committed to the gracious hospitality and high quality wines produced at the Estate.

As natives of New Jersey, Bob and Patty Brower moved to Carmel, California in 1978 after enjoying years of travel as wine enthusiasts. Their vision to open a winery was fueled by the aspiring French hospitality and quality of wine that they encountered abroad when visiting French Chateaus. The Brower's desire to share in the passion of wine has resulted in a winemaking philosophy focused on high quality and value. Their dedication to providing resources for continually increasing Chateau Julien hospitality and quality of wines through vineyard partnerships, winemaking tools and technology is evident throughout the 22 years of ownership.

Winemaker Bill Anderson has been with Chateau Julien Wine Estate since the winery opened in 1982. With over twenty-five years of experience in the wine industry, Bill's knowledge of enology and viticulture stems from his studies at Stanford and UC Davis. His philosophy continues to be as simple as the elegance he achieves in his wines. "Elegance is what I keep in mind in winemaking. Simple, straightforward, clean; the truth is evident without frivolity. If you have good grapes and treat them well, do all the details every day and let them do what they will naturally do, you will have a good product." The winery's addition of the Chai and 246 acres of Estate Vineyard grapes has enabled Bill to continually focus on quality throughout each stage of growing and production.
