The Château Julien Gewürztraminer grapes have been harvested from the same vineyard since its first bottling over two decades ago. Cold fermented using Steinberger Yeast, known for its slow fermentation, allows the winemaker the ability to maintain natural varietal flavor and a slight residual sugar. While semi-dry in flavor, this wines slightly higher acidity balances the residual sugar for a refreshing, lighter style of wine.

Vintage
Vintage 2010 was one of extremes. The growing season began slow, with welcomed ample rainfall followed by a cool spring, delayed bud break and shoot growth. Late heat spikes after a long, cool summer helped the vines play catch up. Ultimately we harvested two to three weeks later than average. Much attention was given to the cool and wet conditions, with canopy, grape cluster and the leaf thinning throughout the growing season to keep the fruit dry. The extended ripening period should result in highly concentrated flavors.
Winemaker Notes
A refreshing, fruity wine reminiscent of freshly cut grapefruit complemented with a nice hint of spice. Its floral nose, bit of acidity and spice overtones, make it a wonderful accompaniment to authentic Thai cuisine or flavorful Chinese dishes. Serve chilled.
