This limited production Chardonnay is produced from select vineyard lots in the north Salinas Valley, where marine influences from the Monterey Bay's Blue Grand Canyon™ create an ideal climate for the Chardonnay grape's long hang-time, intense fruit and balanced acidity. Produced in traditional French "Sur Lie" style, this wine stays in contact with the lees (inactive yeast cells) throughout 100% barrel fermentation and aging. The result is a rich, creamy Chardonnay with a round, full texture.

Vintage
Vintage 2010 was one of extremes. The growing season began slow, with ample rainfall followed by a cool spring, delayed bud break and shoot growth. Late heat spikes after a cool summer helped the vines play catch up. Ultimately we harvested two to three weeks later than average. Much attention was given to the cool and wet
conditions, with canopy, grape cluster and the leaf thinning throughout the growing season to keep the fruit dry. The extended ripening period should result in highly concentrated flavors.
Winemaker Notes
Aromas of bright citrus and ripe apples complement toasted subtle oak nuances and a hint of pecan. This wine's nice depth of fruit, full texture and balanced acidity make it a welcome accompaniment to food — particularly salmon fillets, roasted chicken and pasta with a light butter cream sauce. Medium bodied with a smooth, creamy style through the finish.
