Château Julien Private Reserve wines signify the heritage of the winery, highlighting small vineyard lots, traditional techniques and limited case production. Select lots of the Estate Vineyard’s Syrah grapes are harvested specifically for this Private Reserve wine and held separately throughout oak aging until the final blend.
Vintage
A cold spring slightly delayed vine development at the beginning of the 2009 growing season, and was followed by
warm temperatures and variable weather through the bloom period. An extended warm period in late August and early September ultimately advanced grape maturation, and the bulk of the harvest was done during September and October prior to rains. Yields were close to average.
Winemaker Notes
A forward fruit aroma of vine-ripened blackberries and cracked white pepper complements layers of vanilla and
toasted oak. Moderate tannins balance rich, plumy fruit through a full-bodied, complex finish.
