“Floral and bright: a sunny white that smacks of peaches and pansies. Mouthfilling and big-bodied, it dresses up like spring.”

The Barrel Selected label was introduced to the Château Julien wine portfolio in 1998. These wines typically
have mild tannins and forward fruit, making them extremely food-friendly and approachable upon release.
The Barrel Selected wines are aged in one-to-three year old French and American oak barrels, and have
been awarded numerous value accolades over the years. Varietals include: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon,
Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Moscato.
THE VINEYARD
This wine was produced solely from grapes grown in the Monterey County appellation. Winemaker Bill
Anderson recently expanded beyond our own vineyard to explore quality, diversity and unique varietal
characteristics through additional local vineyard partnerships. Long term relationships based on nearly
30 years of local wine production has allowed Anderson the fl exibility to draw from multiple sources
to produce the best quality and value for our Barrel Selected wines. Our Chardonnay grapes were
harvested from vineyards in the cooler northern regions of the county, where the region's long
growing season results in extended fruit hang-time and ideal sugar/acid balance.
THE VINTAGE
Vintage 2010 was one of extremes. The growing season began slow, with welcomed ample rainfall
followed by a cool spring, delayed bud break and shoot growth. We experienced late heat spikes after
a long, cool summer which helped the vines play catch up. Ultimately we harvested two to three
weeks later than average. Much attention was given to the cool and wet conditions, with canopy,
grape cluster and the leaf thinning throughout the growing season to keep the fruit dry. The
extended ripening period should result in highly concentrated flavors.
WINEMAKING NOTES
One hundred percent barrel fermented and aged for 8 months in 1- and 2-year-old French and
American medium toast oak barrels.
TASTING NOTES
Hints of lemon drops and ripe pear fruit complement forward fruit aromas of buttercream and
vanilla. A nice texture is balanced with superb sugar and acidity through a full finish.
Press
Château Julien (CA) 2009 Chardonnay, Monterey County. Kiwi, guava, and pineapple aromas with a tangy, fruity-yet-dry medium body and a smooth passionfruit and lime finish. Very tasty. BEST BUY
